how much slop on the extruder and x carriage

ok so I was trying to get my first layer right and get auto bed level setup. somewhere in the middle of all this I had a slight collision. I have done way worse without issue with my i3, but I got to looking and there seems to be some wiggle between the extruder rollers and the extruded aluminum x carriage. should this connection be stiff and only roll or should it have some slop incase of collision

ok well I figured out the cam spacer to snug up the extruder. now the auto bed level is acting a little strange. I want to research it a bit more before I start asking questions though, but it seems to over travel in x when it goes to touch the right side of the bed. and I can visibaly see a difference in bed height when the extruder is moving but the printer is not making any adjustments
