Retraction Settings

#1
Hi, I have a gmax 1.5 XT + and with the new marlin update my printer has had a lot of stringing. I can’t even print a good model. My retraction is at 5mm but it still won’t work. If anyone else is having this problem can they let me know? Or let me know how to fix it.
Thanks

What slicer are you using? Have you updated to our latest slicing profiles? Also, we dont recommend retraction above 1mm, it seems to cause a lot of clogging in the E3D.

I was using Cura but then when I switched to slic3r their was no stringing but their was a thermal runaway error and I can’t complete the print

Worth a try, in simplify you can set different fan speeds at different layers. Start with the fan low and after 3-5 layers kick it up.

What temp and material are you printing with?

One thing to try to avoid thermal runaway is to make sure the fan is not turned on to high while printing the first 1-3 layers. The hotend is to close to the bed and has trouble keeping temp. If you have an E3D, make sure to use the silicone sock on the heater block.
