X-axis drive belt almost falling off

#1
What could be possible causes of this (see images).

I have aligned both Z-axis rods and checked that they are vertical.

I don't see obvious way to rotate X-axis pulley on the other Z-axis pillar (opposite side of the one where X-axis stepper motor is). I also don't see obvious way to rotate X-axis stepper motor.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

It appears the outside aluminum portion of your drive gear is missing. This is the portion which stops the belt from coming off. It basically looks like a flat piece on the outside. This may be a result of shipping or general printer use but we have never seen this happen before.

You can try flipping the gear around so its facing the other way to solve the issue.

Thanks Gordon. Darn. I'll do that tomorrow.

Meanwhile, where can I buy replacement, or what is the part number or name or spec for the gear?

Flipping the gear cannot be done because of those small screws that are used to fix the gear to the stepper motor shaft. In order for gear to be fixed to motor shaft I have to push it all the way towards the motor. That pulls the X-axis rubber belt over the plastic part that's holding Z-axis rods which is, obviously, not going to work.

I'll have to find replacement gear somewhere...

If anyone else needs one of these, it looks like pulley for 6mm GT2 timing belt:
Spec:
Pitch: 2mm (GT2)
Number of tooth: 20
Outside Diameter: 15.00mm
Length: 14.00mm
Bore: 5.00mm
Geared section diameter: 12.2mm (doesn't really matter, but some sites sell GT2 pulleys and then only specify this diameter without number of teeth. Strange.)

Found one on Adafruit: http://www.adafruit.com/product/1251
And also in China ;) : http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product ... 39090.html
