loading filament on gMax 1.5

#1
I feel embarrassed for even asking this, but can anyone explain how to load the filament spool on the printer. I have a dual head model and have the three filament spool brackets mounted, but I'm still confused. there are bearings on the filament brackets so my assumption is that they turn, but do you just set the filament spool between 2 of the brackets?? is there a rod that goes through the spool to turn on?

as a second piece to my question, is there an operations guide that is available. I have emailed but no response so far. I looked all over the forum but cant seem to find it. My build manual referred to it at the end but it is a mythical creature from what I can tell so far. The forum has been very helpful on some things (like the MINTEMP error I have had from startup) but some things are not addressed.

The filament sits on top of the bearings and rolls on the bearings as filament is pulled in by the extruder. Most of gCreate's pictures depict the printer without a spool on it, but some of the rendered images show a spool on the spool holder: http://gcreate.com/wp-content/uploads/2 ... nd-red.jpg

The filament then feeds through the hole on the filament arm, between the bearing on the filament arm and the extruder gear, through the hole / tube in the extruder carriage and into the hotend. The filament arm can be pulled open (compressing the spring) to make feeding the filament into the hotend easier.

There is a quick start guide in the downloads section (http://gcreate.com/downloads/gmax-quickstart-quide-1-0/). There are also some videos on gCreate's youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/gCreate3D) for slicing a 3d model and printing it. Aside from that, the people here are pretty helpful.

Thank you mwu. I thought that was how the spool sits but i just imagined it being pulled off the the bearings because there is nothing there to 'clamp' it down. the image is helpful. all i found was many photos without the spool.

thank you even more for the download link. I looked all in the sticky forum labeled 'operation instructions' but didn't think about 'downloads' section. i watched the youtube videos and they were very helpful. I thought those were the best support that I have received from gMax so far.
