Did you ever figure this out? It sounds like the problem I had in viewtopic.php?f=12&t=870 My machine is new and came with 1.1.1, so I have no prior experience to compare it to.

I've gone through this thing line by line and the behavior makes no sense. For some reason I'm able to print the demo file "gMax First Print_170911.gcode" on the SD card, but if I send the same G-code commands one at a time over the USB port, it crashes into the bed on one of the first moves...
