I've been using experimental. 1.2.7 just came out a few days ago and is much more stable than 1.2.6. Support material interface is much better than current stable version 1.1.7. I'm using the experimental for everything now.

That's the belt tensioner "spring", it comes included as far as I know. I personally don't like them but they're necessary on the gMax. When you have a loop of belt that long it's important to keep it taut.

The invert Y has to do with the virtual table view in Simplify, nothing to do with the printer. I've done a lot of tuning but it does work out of the box. Just bed sizes and homing dir Y to max.

Re: E3D Volcano Print Speeds Increasing your temp for all other layers will help, and slow down your first layer as needed b/c you don't want to increase that temp. That's what I like about printing on glass, I print PLA at 220 and have the ability to go all the way up to 280 without any worry.
