In my experience, with the combination of all the things that can go wrong with a print, adding in pronterface crashes or glitchy interfaces through com ports just multiplies the chance of waking up at 8am all
Do yourself a favour and use the SD card. I used to love controlling things from my PC; pausing mid print and trying to repair things if they are going south. I remember some late nights manually modifying gcode files to start the print "one layer down", sheesh.
Sounds powerful? Well I only had to do that when pronterface crashes.
Take out a middle-man, you wont regret it
